The Loss and Damage Research Observatory is set to be co-developed and co-owned by the community of practice engaged in research, policy and action on economic and non-economic loss and damage. It is designed to foster collaboration and networking among the local research community, and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise nationally and internationally.
We invite researchers from the Global South to submit their pioneering contributions to this knowledge repository. We are looking for peer-reviewed research papers, research methodologies, case studies, best practices and other materials that encompass the economic and non-economic loss and damage perspectives and practical solutions. Your contributions will build on existing knowledge and support policymaking and discourse.The repository aims to be a trusted resource for publications related to loss and damage and to aid the diverse range of stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, development practitioners, working on this crucial issue. The repository will include, but is not limited to, the following formats:

Working Papers - In-depth, original research examining specific aspects of loss and damage, including its economic, social, and environmental impacts, as well as policy frameworks for addressing it.

Guidelines for submission of manuscripts

All submissions should be original and not have been published elsewhere, contribute substantially to the field of loss and damage induced by climate change, and locally led actions to tackle those L&Ds.

Manuscripts should be submitted in English, and adhere to the specific formatting and citation styles outlined in the submission guidelines (available upon request).

The submissions of manuscripts should be in a standardised format, including title, abstract, introduction, methodology section, results, discussion, and references. Proper citation of sources is essential, adhering to recognised academic referencing styles.

Researchers should affirm that their work adheres to ethical standards, including respect for human rights, consent, and protection of vulnerable populations.

Submissions will undergo rigorous plagiarism checks. Any instance of plagiarism may lead to rejection of the submissions.
